Cake Church

History of Cake Church

We are working towards an understanding that God is not confined to church, but is active all the time, in people who go to church as well as those who donít.
Cake church are a friendly group of people in the SK23 area, looking for others to join us.

King's Church started out in life in January 2005.

The original Chinley Methodist church had to close due to building problems. The minister, David Philo wanted to retain a Methodist presence in the area and at the same time begin something a little different.

We began in the community building in Chinley with an Alpha course. From there we began worship services on Sunday afternoons. We had relaxed and informal times of worship with coffee and cakes followed by a short relevant talk. People started calling it "cake church" and the name stuck.

We continued to run Alpha courses and found that the community hall became unsuitable for the type of church we felt God was asking us to be. We have met in a variety of settings and our most recent venture is cress@the mustard seed.

We are a small and friendly bunch of people trying to make sense of what God wants for us as we lead our lives. We aim to provide a safe place to ask those difficult questions that life throws up.
